I watched the Oscars last night like a lot of people and apparently;like a lot of parents,I let my kids stay up to watch too. Idina Menzel was going to be on singing ‘Let it Go” how could I not?
She wasn’t the only highlight of the evening for my littles, they really enjoyed Pharrel William’s Happy song from Despicable Me 2..um,too. But let’s be honest,Frozen struck a serious chord with us-Rumor has it that I might have gone all watery eyed the first time I heard Let it Go. Even with the song being sung daily by okay, all of us besides my husband, it’s still one of our favorite songs. For the kids the night was pretty much about us waiting for that live performance moment.
My youngest didn’t make it but the kid did and we were not disappointed by Idina’s performance!
Have we heard her do better? Yes…the kids and I were once big Glee fans so we have, but it was still good! And so worth it.
There was a certain factor that happened last night that might have hampered her performance a little. But I won’t bother speaking of it. (John, buddy, I adore you-I do,but ouch!)
Anyway, once the kid finally conked out and I pulled myself away from various social media outlets I made this lunch to commemorate the night:
I was riding a wave of Frozen geekdom and falling in love with the movie and song all over again. These renderings are not perfect and not something I’ll do all of the time but hopefully they’ll be worth it too. (Mondays are rough even without staying up past bedtimes,y’all!)
